Program Theme:              Dance Culture and Dancers

Cultural Program Core:    Meet with individual ballet, as well as other dance professionals and students, to get to know about their training, careers and life; capture their dance through photography. Primary activity comprises meeting with professional performers and students of the Ballet Nacional, Centro Pro Danza, and the Tropicana professional dancers. Sessions at a Salsa School will take place. Program will include impromptu meetings on the street and in communities with the Cuban people.


Cultural visits will include museums, as well as dance, art and music venues. The farewell evening will consist of dinner and a show at the Tropicana Cabaret.


Biography, Amy Arbus

Highly regarded and world-renowned Photographer, Amy Arbus is an American, New York City-based, photographer. She teaches portraiture at the International Center of Photography, Anderson Ranch, NORD photography and the Fine Arts Work Center.  Amy Arbus has published five books, including On the Street 1980-1990 and The Inconvenience of Being Born. Her photographs have appeared in the New York Magazine, People Magazine, Dazed and Confused, The New York Times Magazine, and several others.  Her work is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, a very high distinction, as well as in several galleries and exhibitions throughout the world. Amy Arbus is the daughter of the famous photographer Diane Arbus. Ms. Arbus has traveled to Cuba previously.


Yvonne Butler, Program Producer and Ground Coordinator (www.yvonnebutler.com and www.ybutlergroup.com) will travel with the group.  Yvonne has traveled in Cuba and studied Cuba for the past three years. She will bring her knowledge of and photography experience in Cuba.
